Pilates + Cycle
Pilates + Cycle is a boutique studio specialized in the Lagree fitness training program with the additional offering of cycle classes.
Big Storm reinvigorated their branding by developing a sleek new logotype and identity system. Once that was finished we developed a new responsive website that ties into the MindBody API, and shows off the improved Pilates + Cycle branding.
Designed to impart a sense of vintage modernism, the new Pilates + Cyle brand leverages the time-tested Futura typeface in it's logotypes. The result is simple, sleek, and focused on simple geometric forms.
Big Storm took the branding further by developing a series of logotypes that could be utilized in various situations. A signature logotype includes the location of the studio along with the signature of studio owner, Claudia Martin. A condensed version was designed to be used in applications where horizontal space is limited. Lastly, an abbreviated 'P + C' version was designed to be used as a monogram, and in conjunction with an of the other full logos.
We formulated a comprehensive set of brand guidelines for Pilates + Cyle that details the various usage settings for each of the different logotypes. This includes the when, how, and why to use each of the logotypes that Big Storm designed.
Guidelines on how to properly use typography were also included which detail how to typeset Futura for Pilates + Cycle to convey a consistent typographic style.
A color palette was chosen specifically for Pilates + Cyle that includes the primary brand color, along with a series of additional secondary colors. The palette is cohesive and gives structure and hierarchy to the brand but is diverse enough to be applied in many different applications.
With the new logotypes forged and style guidelines in place, Big Storm moved forward to rebuilding the Pilates + Cycle website. This meant choosing an appropriate CMS then building a completely custom theme while applying the new identity. The Statamic CMS provided an extremely effortless platform for the client to add new content. The theme also needed to be responsive so that it adapted to users visiting on mobile, tablet, or desktop and provided them with a consistent experience.
Big Storm also tied the site into the MindBody API, a business management system used by the studio. The result of which allows visitor to see class schedules and sign up for courses directly on the Pilates + Cycle site, an all around better user experience.
